It's gonna be a fun campaign - Pt. 180
Posted by Jon Henke

So far, John Kerry has been going out of his way to prove that he's no Michael Dukakis. Finally, George W Bush has shown up to point out: this isn't his fathers Presidential campaign.....

"The other party's nomination battle is still playing out. The candidates are an interesting group with diverse opinions," Bush said. "They're for tax cuts and against them. They're for NAFTA and against NAFTA. They're for the Patriot Act and against the Patriot Act. They're in favor of liberating Iraq, and opposed to it. And that's just one senator from Massachusetts."
Let the squealing begin.

(Via Marc of MarcLand, who catches some pretty good stories. He's a daily stop for me)

UPDATE: Another good bit....

"Our opponents say they approve of bold action in the world, but only if no other government disagrees," he said. "They now agree that the world is better off with Saddam out of power. They just didn't support removing Saddam from power.

"Maybe they were hoping he'd lose the next Iraqi election," he said, as the crowd erupted in laughter and applause.

UPDATE II: However, I hope Bush has the decency to be a bit embarrassed about this....

President Bush launched his opening attack on Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., Monday night, asserting that his likely opponent would raise taxes, stifle business and expand government....
Yeah. The Democrats would expand government. Right.
....And one more thing: until you cut spending, it's not actually a "tax cut". It's just a "tax shift".

We straight? I don't like this nonsense when I hear it from Democrats, and I don't like it any more when I hear it from Republicans.

wow - high praise! It is nice to see Bush respond after all the bluster of the last few months from the Dems, though.
