Sullivan-Watch
Posted by Jon Henke

It's time to hold an intervention for Andew Sullivan. He's giving Paul Krugman a run for King of Shrill.

Revolutionary agendas?
Sullivan:

[Reader Mail]This debate isn’t only about federalism, it’s about the reversal of two hundred years of liberal democracy that respects individuals. So why isn’t anyone talking about this aspect of it?
[Sullivan]With luck, this agenda will be revealed as this amendment is discussed and debated.
Paul Krugman:
We have is a very radical challenge to the way our system has worked for about 70 years. ... It's been an extremely - a revolutionary challenge in the way to America as we know it, pushed through all -- at each point with the claim that the goals are more moderate. But we take it all together, it's actually something that is quite frightening for those of us that think America as we know it is a pretty good place.

Powers behind the scenes?
Andrew Sullivan....
The most important thing to remember is who is behind this amendment: Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Gary Bauer, Robert Bork, Rick Santorum.
Paul Krugman.
...if you look at the people behind the Bush administration, if you look at the lobbyists who wield an enormous amount of power ... Grover Norquist, the uber-lobbyist ... Tom DeLay, ... these very hard- line right-wingers who are really the power behind the throne.

Memo to conspiracy theorists: We're one of you!
Sullivan:

For them, gays are just the beginning, the soft targets before the real battle. Memo to straights: you're next.
And delivering the knockout blow, Paul Krugman:
Memo to [a critic]: if you want to accuse me of being shrill, a link to Andrew Sullivan, of all people, doesn't exactly make the case.
Sullivan and Krugman.....separated at birth. Reunited in 2004.
