March 02, 2004 How to Salute, and other helpful tips Over at Sgt Stryker, there's a very interesting discussion going on about the poor portrayal of the military in movies. Hollywood, apparently, hasn't snapped to attention. Make sure you read the comments, too, as they contain some of the best Hollywood bloopers. A couple years ago, a fellow I knew well was a military advisor on the Mel Gibson movie "We were Soldiers". As he told it, they worked very hard to teach actors how to act, salute, even move like soldiers. But no matter how much work they put into getting things right, in the end it really all came down to one thing....close-ups of Mel Gibson's face. |
