Blog Rolling

* I must admit, I don't really know what's going on in Russia....which is a bit embarrassing, since an uncle of mine has written books on Russia/US relations, and teaches on the subject at George Washington U. I'm clearly unable to hold up my end in conversations. Well, with Russian elections just days away, this description of the current Russian political situation is worth reading.
* Add my voice to the chorus: naming large naval vessels after Senate Armed Services Committee Chairmen is....well, personal pork.
* In a critique of Kerry's campaign rhetoric, John Rogers writes....
Iraq is now the most America friendly government in a very bad neighborhood. Where else in the region could Americans run the country, hire hundreds of thousand of police to work alongside us and still have overwhleming popular support from the locals for staying until the job is done?
Bad governments in Syria, Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia now fear their own people more than they hate us.
That is progress. Well said, but Rogers does that often. If I was ever to expand this to a 3-man blog, he'd be on the short-list of candidates.
* Judicious Asininity has some good stuff up. More than one, so just go read it for yourself.
* CS Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" is set to begin filming. Whatever your religious leaning, CS Lewis was a masterful writer, and his work appeals on multiple levels. I hope they can get around to all seven books in the Chronicles of Narnia. Pure genius.
* Last week...In a Theocracy not so far away... (amusing)
* Michael Totten.....
So it looks like John Kerry is it.
And therefore I’m out.
I would have voted for John Edwards had the Democratic Party chosen him as the nominee. Heck, I would have voted a straight-Democratic ticket next year if that’s how it went down. But it didn’t, and so I won’t. I can’t. Last night, I said "The Democrats may not like Bush, but I hope they have the decency to hold their nose when they vote for Kerry". Apparently, I left out one option.
* Can I assume we're done with the Democratic Debates now? Surely, Kerry isn't going to debate Kucinich and Sharpton. At the last debate, Kerry and Edwards were barely humoring the two of them, often turning away with an indulgent smile while they spoke. I can't imagine Kerry debasing himself by sharing a stage with these two non-entities, again.
