Terrorist takedown in Amman
Posted by McQ

From Defense News, a very good read about the details of the Jordanian Special Forces raids which netted the bombers who allegedly were attempting a chemical attack (there has now been a denial of that issued by someone who claims to have planned the attack that there was no plan for the attack to be chemical).

The raid got very high marks for its planning and execution:

The operation impressed the leader of the U.S. Special Operations Command in the region.

“It was a very, very well-executed operation,” said U.S. Brig. Gen. (promotable) Gary Harrell, who commands Special Operations Command Central. “Not only did they have good intelligence, but they had the presence of mind to put these guys in front of the camera to get a confession. The Jordanians are good, very good and they’re really fighting this war.”

I've alway heard the Jordanians were good ... this will convince you of it. You'll also get an insight as to the flexibility which a good special operations operation has to have and the requirement for SO leaders to be able to think on their feet and do it quickly. Among these guys, you won't find anyone who has a problem making a decision.
