Drudge is touting a tip from an "insider", who claims...

Official Washington and the entire press corps will be rocked when Hillary Rodham Clinton is picked as Kerry's VP and a massive love fest will begin! So predicts a top Washington insider, who spoke to the DRUDGE REPORT on condition he not be named. "All the signs point in her direction," said the insider, one of the most influential and well-placed in the nation's capital. "It is the solution to every Kerry problem."
Wow! An Insider! He'd know something we don't! It must be true!

Except, based on what this "insider" says, it's pretty obvious he's a Republican, because he can't seem to resist the snark when talking about Democrats....

- "he served in Vietnam after all" - No Kerry supporter/insider would sarcastically refer to one of Kerry's selling points like this.
- Speaking of Republicans "dirty tricks", "we know they are scandals dirty tricks because the former president book says so"
- He calls Hillary a "health care expert"...putting that term in scare quotes.

I doubt very strongly that Hillary would accept a VP spot--or that she'll be offered one--and this "insider" strikes me as nothing more than a Republican attempt to seed the air with disinformation about Kerry's campaign - perhaps to overshadow whoever he does eventually pick. (though, Kerry is running a "health care" ad campaign right now!)

One gets the impression that Drudge is just posting emailed speculation from his friends. Unfortunately, this will probably get more attention than it deserves.

By openly floating - and actively pursuing - McCain, Kerry proved that all he wants in a VP is a BIG BOUNCE; after all, McCain differs with Kerry and the DNC on just about everything.

The only other person who can give Kerry a "McCain-like Bounce" is Hillary.

Therefore, based on his "McCain efforts" it is reasonable to predict he will OFFER the job to Hillary.

It is reasonable to expect Hillary to accept.
There is no downside to her being on the ticket - except that she will be violating a promise to New Yorkers: She promised to finish her term.

I believe that it will be Hillary, because I cannot name ANOTHER PERSON who can give Kerry a McCain-like bounce.

Can you?

Kerry doesn't care about bounce, he cares about what state a VP can deliver to him.

That's why I predict Edwards (wow, what a bold move lol) because Kerry must think he can deliver at least 1 southern state to the Dem side of the ledger

I wish it was Hillary, it would be great to see the 2 of them go down in flames at the same time

Kerry could have walked over McCain because McCain is the outsider in the Dem party. Hillary isnt. Hillary has more charisma than Kerry (who doesnt) and has the Dem base on her side.

One thing that Hillary will do that Kerry doesnt want is to unite the Republican base to a point where Kerry wont stand a chance.

Kerry doesnt want a VP who will outshine him, take over the party from him, or solidify the Republican base. Hillary does all 3 so that is 3 strikes against her.

I am leaning towards it being Edwards but I still think Gephardt has at least a 50-50 shot simply because if anyone has less chance of taking over the party from Kerry it is him.

Kerry would be looking at most at a one term president if Hillary is chosen and they are elected. Kerry knows that Hillary will be looking to stab him in the back because he knows that she wants to be Number 1. He isnt going to give her that chance.

Her recent quote in San Francisco, "We're going to have to take it away from you for the common good", is going to effectively sink her career - if the Republican media mavens have any sort of competence.

I would like to reconsider my thoughts on VP pick. I left out Al Gore.

Think about it. Gore has the qualifications (at least the left thinks so). He will get the democrat base. He has the voters who voted for him in 2000. He isnt more charismatic than Kerry. Think of it. It could be the campaign of the Snore and the Gore.

Watch what I say.

"John, with me as your vice-president, your administration would be a walk in the park."
