Law of Free Trade: The costs, visible; the benefits, invisible
Posted by Jon Henke

Kevin Drum....

...did 40% of the executives they interviewed also express concerns about the high cost and low skills of American executives?

No? I wonder why? How much do you suppose General Motors could save by firing everyone above the level of vice president and replacing them with hardworking, highly talented, and incredibly well educated executives from India willing to work for $100,000 a year?

Hyundai [India]
Suzuki [India]
Daewoo [Korea],
etc.

Every time a US consumer purchases one of their cars, we've decided to "outsource" work to an executive elsewhere.

Plus, it has the additional benefit of providing value to the consumer, rather than the General Motors Co, about which Kevin Drums seems so inexplicably concerned.

Still, the executive outcome is the same. That's wish demand fulfillment.
