Cronyism, don't you know...

Paul Krugman, 06/04/02.....

Ken Lay, Gary Winnick, Chuck Watson, Dennis Kozlowski — all will be consoled in their early retirement by nine-figure nest eggs. Unless you go to jail — and does anyone think any of our modern malefactors of great wealth will actually do time?...

Reality, 07/07/04...
Former Enron Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Kenneth Lay, who grew the company into an energy trading giant that became the ultimate symbol of corporate wrongdoing and greed, was indicted on Wednesday and said he would surrender to authorities.
[...]
The charges come 2-1/2 years after the U.S. Justice Department began an investigation which has slowly climbed the corporate ladder to bring criminal charges against 22 former Enron employees.
I cannot improve on Henry Hanks' statement: "What? But I thought this was never supposed to happen because Bush gave him a nickname..."

Pleeeze,Mr. Lay, stop your whinning. It is disgusting to watch these news/press ops that you are making in defense of your "innocence." Do you really think the public believes your nauseating pleas?

Spare us the details of your financial woes. Tsk, tsk, tsk ... down to a paltry 20 or so mil, (the amt. he admits to, not the mils he has hidden in other venues.)

If you were was so ignorant of the scheming going on in Enron as YOU claim, which is a crock, you would have to be classified as one of the mostly inept. dumbest, grossly overpaid, inadequate pieces of flesh promoted as a whiz kid CEO.

Throughout history sooner or later all dynasties have fallen - so it is with Enron.
