Apparently the Nepalese get it

Maybe a little crude and a little "overbroad" in the application of their anger, but even the unsophisticated natives of Nepal understand the root of the violence against their countrymen in Iraq.

Thousands of people rampaged through Kathmandu, setting fire to a mosque and Arab targets and ransacking employment agencies after 12 Nepalese hostages were murdered in Iraq.

Two men were shot and slightly wounded by security guards when they tried to storm the Egyptian embassy, which represents Iraqi interests in the Himalayan kingdom, police and a doctor said.

The streets returned to normal after the government clamped an indefinite curfew and declared a national day of mourning Thursday for the victims of the worst hostage massacre in Iraq since the US-led invasion.

Demonstrators, some chanting "Punish the Muslims!", swept through Kathmandu early Wednesday, throwing stones and ransacking any targets with Arabic-language script.

Notice they didn't attack the US Embassy, US business interests or US citizens.

Nope, it wasn't the US who brutally murdered 12 of their countrymen and unlike sophisticated Europe and the intellectual left of this country, they figured it out.

Will wonders never cease?

BTW, anyone aware of any condemnation of that atrocity by Muslim clerics in the Arab world?

I got about a dozen e-mails from Gurkhalis in response to a post I did on the executions. These people are pissed. I say, let's grant them all visas.

Wow...Now I can see a lot more clearly how killing innocent civilians tends to make their countrymen want revenge. I understand Iraq a lot better now.

Somehow it never dawns on people like you that's how millions upon millions of Americans felt after the WTC bombings. People in my family wanted to nuke Mecca. I suggested that we should overthrow the Taliban and make our landfall in Syria.

However, we being Americans, tactics more in line with a grand strategy for winning the war with the best and most optimistic outcomes were undertaken: overthrowing brutal repressive autocratic regimes in favor of truly democratic ones to bleed off the ever present popular discontent with said autocratic regimes, which instead of simple poverty are the true "roots of terror".

Leftists, if they cared about people, would try to help Iraqis and Afghanis achieve these goals: both because of the positive benefits to human rights relative to Saddam and the Taliban and because if the region backslides into terror in a big way again, Americans might forget their grand strategy and anihilate them. I don't know exactly how bad it would have to get to reach that point, but leftists and terrorists should hope that we never find out.

In recent decades, the brits have cut back on the number of gurkas in their ranks. These units were the source of serious amounts of currency sent home buy the units. Rather than handing out aid, maybe we should incorporate gurka units in US military ORBAT.

Bad asses just doesn't begin to describe these guys. I wonder how well a lame ass Jahadi will stand up to a Ghurka coming at him with Khukuri.
THESE guys would have cleared out the Mosque in Najaf without ballistic weapons.
