Dowd's book sale blues
Posted by McQ
Maureen Dowd is upset. It seems her anti-Bush polemic, if you can believe it, is just not selling as well as, well O'Neill's "Unfit for Command" and Gen. Tommy Franks book, "American Soldier". The horror of it all. She's so upset she even shoots at leftest icon Bill Clinton and his book.
Dowd told radio host Don Imus:
"I have to get above the Swiftboat guys. Look at the guys above me [on the list]. A president whose book is unreadable. A general who left his troops in Iraq - he should be back over there. And the swiftboat lying liars who lie in their swiftboats."
Instead of simply understanding that it may not be of interest to that many people (perhaps that's because the anti-Bush book market is a tad saturated, or maybe its the author ... or both) she prefers to impugn the other authors.
Franks "left his troops in Iraq"? Yeah, its called "change of command" and retirement, oh Dowdy one.
Oh, I forgot, she's from the left and their knowledge of the military is about the size of the proverbial mustard seed. Which, of course, makes her comments about the swift boat vets and lies about as relevant, as, well, her.
