It is absolutely hilarious to see this incessant whining from prominent Democrats about Republican character assassinations and negative politics. Two points:
So yes McQ, you are right. There IS nothing to see here. Move along, now. Posted by: D at September 8, 2004 10:40 AM |

What a very odd man. Carter has spent thousands of hours hammer-and-nailing housing for the poor. I think he has some very decent qualities. He has, however, a very wide streak of the Pharisee in him: that self-righteous arrogance which permits him to condemn as evil those who oppose him. I think this is at heart the basis of the resentment he feels for those who disagree with him. James Earl Carter seems such a very angry, vain, miserable man. Carter dares group himself with Roosevelt, Truman, JFK? Heck, even LBJ deserves better. Posted by: Dave at September 8, 2004 12:02 PM |

What's this about Carter being Georgia's favorite son? I bet if you did a poll in Georgia today, Zell Miller would easily be named as Georgia's favorite son. Carter is a nice old man who led the country into malaise and disrespect abroad. He will be most remembered for his hammer and his nail apron. I find it interesting that Dems in general, and Carter in particular, don't seem to consider even for a moment that Miller's "disloyalty" might come from genuine conviction. Miller is retiring in January. What, pray tell, does the man stand to gain from such a move politically? He has no political future of which to speak...by his own choice! And I say this with someone who really doesn't agree with very much of what Mr. Miller had to say. Posted by: Brian at September 8, 2004 11:52 PM |

EddieP, no you are entirely wrong: "He will be most remembered for his hammer and his nail apron." He will be remembered by history as the defacto head of COAM, (Coalition of Appeasement Monkeys). Whose current members include Germany, (Whose Pres is begging the US to release the 7 of Hearts in Bush's deck of cards), France, Russia (who may actually be awake after this week), Spain, and the Philippines. And don't forget this little Carter interference in US policy: "For years, Carter has been a thorn in the side of presidents, acting as a kind of “anti-president,” as Lance Morrow once put it in an essay for Time. You recall how Carter irked Clinton on Haiti and North Korea. His low moment, however, came during the run-up to the Gulf War, when he wrote members of the U.N. Security Council — including Mitterrand’s France and Communist China — urging them to thwart the Bush administration’s effort. Our government found out about it when the Canadian prime minister, Brian Mulroney, called the defense secretary, Dick Cheney, and said, “What the . . .?” Some people actually allowed themselves to utter the word “treason.” Sorry Jimmy, you were a Moonbat in '79, and you're just an older Moonbat now.

Zell Miller is a rabid lunatic and laughing stock, who spewed lies at a great American. Jimmy Carter was kind to him. This is evidently a lunatic fringe right wing Web Site from the look of the comments here. Publish the entire Jimmy Carter letter, look at the lies Miller (friend of segregationist Lester Maddux) told about Kerry (he voted against protective clothing....he did not...he voted for it after the $10B no bid giveaway to Cheney's Halliburton was removed)...then either exert some intelligence..or admit you are confused by the facts...have a lower IQ than Bush..and go back to the John Birch Society or whatever rock you crawled out from under.... Sheesh, that sounds as shrill as Zell...no he was worse ! Posted by: Bob Shaw at September 9, 2004 10:20 PM |
