Is this sinking in yet?
Posted by: McQ on Friday, October 24, 2008

Because the more you hear it, the more it should sink in. Repetition, as the Army taught me, reinforces.

Your taxes - yeah, I'm talking to you and I don't care how much money you make - are going to be raised under a Democratic administration. Clear enough?
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Democrats will push for a stimulus package after the November election, and called for a package reducing defense spending by 25 percent while saying Congress will "eventually" raise taxes.

[...]

Frank also said the post-election stimulus package will focus on spending for building projects, extending unemployment benefits, and further supporting states' healthcare costs. "We'll have to raise taxes ultimately," Frank said. "Not now, but eventually." Frank told the Standard-Times that if Democrats cannot secure the votes they need in November, they will try again in January, when they will likely have stronger majorities in the House and Senate.
And, as previously mentioned, the cuts in spending will come from where we can afford them least. This is how Democrats address "national security". And, as is obvious, anticipating a win on election day, they seen absolutely no reason to be coy about it any longer.

To be fair, making things worse is technically addressing national security...

It just isn’t a form of address I would talk about proudly...

The nation is pretty secure. We’ve been engaged in a neo-imperial foreign policy where we don’t focus on defending the country, but rather on trying to shape world events. That has lead to the death of hundreds of thousands, and destruction of a lot of property. If the current financial crisis leads us to reconsider our foreign policy, and focus on national defense rather than trying to dominate the planet, then we’ll find anti-Americanism will decline and we’ll again recapture the values that made us strong. But regardless of who wins, we need to cut military spending because it’s not only unnecessary, but counter productive. It actually hurts our security standing, both in terms of creating unnecessary enemies, and draining our economy.

Obama’s tax policy is not going to make more jobs in America, instead it will make more unemployment and cause people to lose more money, not make more money.... His left wing illuminati beliefs are going to cripple this nation for YEARS to come.

Obamanomics—and "liberal" redistributionism in general—can be summarized by the caption of a famous NEW YORKER cartoon, in which an IRS auditor is speaking to a dejected-looking taxpayer: "It helps, Mr. Smith, if you stop thinking of it as your money."

Hey, the thought occurs to me: In Obama’s church, when Rev. Wright covers the Ten Commandments, does he skip over the one about not coveting thy neighbor’s goods? Just wondering.

where we don’t focus on defending the country
Yes Scott, all those troops we stuck near Fulda Gap in Germany all through the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s were there to defend the "United States" from Soviet tank swarms in Europe back before George Bush was even considering being governor of Texas. Nor were we trying to shape world events with our military prior to Bush II.
Our policy of placing our military on foreign soil in peace time for ’imperialist policy’ only started in 2000 when Bush II was elected.

That has led to the death of hundreds of thousands...yeah, I’m not even going to touch that, you tool.
we need to cut military spending because it’s not only unnecessary, but counter productive.
Yes, the Soviets would agree with you if we hadn’t spent them onto the scrap heap of history with unnecessary and counter productive military spending.

Where’s your Iranian control of Iraq and Iraqi quagmire stories today?
Taking a hiatus?

How can we reduce defense spending if Obama is going to be tested by an international crisis within 6 months?

?????

It’ll be a written test Shark, you know, like Scott gives sometimes.
There won’t be any actual cost involved, it’ll all be negotiation type of testing.
We’ll probably negotiate ourselves into cheaper positions by bailing on our support for Israel, and some of those eastern European countries that Friendly Vlad Putin has his eye on for starters. We can get around to what Iran wants int the Middle East a bit later, perhaps around the same time we agree to curb our imperialist influence in South America in favor of the less bellicose policies of Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela.

I’m sure Herr Obama will bring us Peace in our time and at no real cost to the U.S. in prestige or influence.

Meanwhile, Scott doesn’t care, he’s vetted in Liberal BS and his job is secure. In fact he’s so good, he’ll likely be hired for re-training the likes of us.

I’m kind of hoping Jesse Jackson’s happy talk about cutting support to Israel and Lewis Far-out-Khan’s happy talk about Nation of Islam have caused the jOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOs to reconsider their normal support for the Democratic party BEFORE the election.

But, I bet not, alas.

Doubtful. Don’t forget, we Jews don’t know anything else but to suffer ;)

But I bet it caused Israel to reconsider contingency plans for striking at Iran before Pres. Spread-the-wealth takes office.

I sure hope that Frank wasn’t one of the people complaining recently about how the US Military is "too weak", that our troops "lacked armor" and we "can’t fight two wars at once" and "fighting in Iraq has destroyed our armed forces".

Because if he was, or if he doesn’t repudiate those of his party who did say so (for whatever pretext he can come up with), there’s the slight problem of rationalising those complaints and a 25% cut in spending on the DoD.

That is, unless he is willing to take the position held by much of his party’s base, that the US simply shouldn’t have an Army any bigger than Canada’s, and the US should somehow "stop genocides" and "do peacekeeping" without the ability to actually do so.

Of course, realizing that that’s impossible would require some sort of realistic knowledge of military affairs, and I think everyone with that has left the Democratic party.

The nation is pretty secure right now, but just wait until Obama becomes the C-in-C with a Democratic-controlled Congress. That evil Bush has returned us to a neo-imperial foreign policy where we don’t focus on defending the country, but rather on trying to shape world events. Now that might be the same thing as Clinton’s foreign policy, except you can’t criticize a Democrat for any political actions intended to distract from his sexual escapades. Bush’s foreign policy has lead to the death of hundreds of thousands, if you choose to believe the anti-war pinko liars, which if true is largely the destruction of a whole lot of Islamofascist bad guys, anyway. If the next Congress and White House lead us to reconsider our foreign policy, and focus on weakening national defense, then we’ll find anti-Americanism will decline because the rest of the world will laugh as it can dominate us. But regardless of who wins, we need to cut military spending because it’s not only unnecessary, but counter productive to becoming good, obedient servants of the UN. Wanting to have sharp teeth to defend ourselves actually hurts our world popularity, both in terms of deterring enemies who will always be there, and diverting tax money from welfare recipients, ACORN et al.

By the way-
I realize that voting it down in Nov only means they’ll vote it in bigger and worse in Jan, but let them do that.

They’re gonna get their way regardless, but at least what happens will be all on them.

Should we also point out that reducing military spending by 25% would mean our economy takes a hit? Military spending is another fiscal stimulus, and if you reduce it, it means less jobs, not more.

But that will be replaced by the spending on health care. Look at Wizbangblog and the story on Teddy Kennedy. THey are going for the whole shebang on health care in Jan.

We will be broke, no jobs, country in deep recession, starving, weak militarily, no gas, cant afford cars or morgage payments but we will have free health care.

The values that made us strong were the values of the free market. Something that appears to be going away if the Democrats win this election.

We need to be the big dog in the world. We have been playing that role since WW2, and prior to that England played that role. Without Anglo-Saxon navies, the world would be a much darker place.

Modern trade and commerce works so well because the good guys have the most and best guns.
